Your Guide to Circle Reunion 2018

Is the real world starting to get you down? Do you need some R&R with your camp friends? Good news: Reunion is just around the corner.

Use this guide to prepare for a weekend in 21719.

Parking

You may drop your stuff off at your bunk, but you must park your car in the lot outside of camp. Please do not park on any grass or walkways (an emergency vehicle must be able to drive through camp). If you need to park inside the gate, please contact Lesley Levin at lesleyl@camplouisecircle.org to reserve a spot in the Dining Hall parking lot.

Check-In

You will receive your name tag and bunk assignment at the Dining Hall when you arrive. You’ll also have the opportunity to purchase camp mementos and vote on the Circle Board ballot if you haven’t already done so online. Check-in begins at 4:00 PM and dinner will be at 7:00 PM.

Please note that camp is hosting another rental group before us. We will be doing everything we can to be ready by 4:00 PM, but please don’t arrive before that time.

Volunteering/Donations

Want to give back to Circle? Perhaps you continued your Arts & Crafts skills beyond camp. Or maybe you can offer coveted items or services. We are looking for high-quality items to include in this year’s raffle! In previous years, our most successful raffle and silent auction items have included gift cards to favorite restaurants or a spa day, sports memorabilia, and Camp Louise memorabilia. Bring your item(s) to check-in to be included. Winners will be announced on Saturday night after dinner. All purchasing and bidding need to be completed before dinner on Saturday evening.

New Inductees – Shabbat Choir

All new inductees are invited to be in the Shabbat Choir on Friday night. When you arrive, check in with Melanie Blatt to be in the choir.

Towels, Sheets, Blankets- Oh my!

You are responsible for all pillows, linens, blankets, and towels during the weekend. Don’t forget to pack for cold weather! If you are traveling from far away and need help finding sheets/etc. to use at Reunion, or if you can bring extra sheets/etc. for someone to borrow, please email Lesley at lesleyl@camplouisecircle.org.

Also, check the forecast and make sure you have cold weather gear and rain gear if you’ll need it.

Looking to add some gear to your camp wardrobe?

After lunch on Saturday, we will host a clothing swap!  Share your camp memories and items such as clothes, shoes and accessories at Reunion this year! Bring up to 10 lightly used/clean items that you will not miss (especially camp clothes & memorabilia). The swapping-fun time will begin Saturday at 1:30 pm in Activity Room 1 in the White House. All remaining items will be donated to the House of Ruth in Baltimore City.

Activities

We’ll give you a detailed agenda when you arrive at Reunion, but here’s a quick run down of the activities you should expect to see at Reunion.

Friday Night

Shabbat Dinner – We’ll start dinner at 7PM with our inductee choir. White clothing is optional.

Folkdancing – Camp’s folkdance department head, Bradie Campana, will be hosting an evening of folkdancing in Social Hall.

Oneg – Executive Director of Camps Airy & Louise, Jonathan Gerstl and his wife, Amy Bram, will host an Oneg in the cottage after folkdancing. Enjoy some snacks and some history!

Group Photo – You won’t want to miss the group photo for 2018! We’ll take it in Solarium after services or Social Hall if it’s raining.

Arts & Crafts activities – More details coming soon about which activities will be planned.

Storytelling – We’re bringing back the Storytelling activity! Tell us your favorite memories from your favorite place on Earth.

Sing Down – Break into groups and compete in listing as many songs as you can based on a single word (chosen by our host, Lauren Winiker Kaplan).

Talent Show – Start practicing your talent now – we’ll be hitting the big stage at Jill’s Place with a show starring YOU!

Havdallah & Campfire – We’ll wrap up the evening with Havdallah led by Mel Blatt and then go straight into a campfire led by Rachel Wolman and Gertz. And, we’ll be in the newly renovated Junior Campfire space.

Sunday

Cleanup – There will be tours at camp after Reunion, so please clean up all trash!

Brunch – Hit the road with a full heart and a full belly.

(Join Camps Airy & Louise at Airy for the Fall Sukkot event that afternoon)

Donate to Circle

As you can imagine, Circle Reunion is one of the largest expenses of the year for Circle. Now’s the time to consider making a gift.

Please note, purchases and donations can only be made via cash or check during Reunion.

Circle Board Voting

Voting will be open online until September 20, and in-person voting will take place at Circle Reunion on Friday, September 21 until 8:30pm. New Board members will be announced at the Town Hall Meeting during Circle Reunion on Saturday, September 22. If you have any questions about the nominations or voting process, contact Randi Moody at randim@camplouisecircle.org. Don’t forget to vote for your board members!
